“ We've had dinner here twice now and both times had the experience. They treated us like family and went above and beyond the standard restaurant service. Plus the food is always so delicious and fresh. Definitely the best pastrami sandwich in SD county! We love coming here after the beach and will continue to do so. ”
“ Consistently good food, I've been dining at Milton's for the past 25 or more years now. Really good matzo ball soup with shredded chicken, very good sandwiches. I like the roast turkey dinner as well. Really like their Monte cristo, it's breaded and deep fried tempura style which is how I like it! Also good sweet potato fries. ”
“ Monday, 2-24-2025: My husband and I stopped here for lunch en route to UCSD Med Center in La Jolla. We had passed here many times on our way to the SD Fair every year. I knew that Milton's made great bread but never thought to stop here in the past. But, I'm glad we did this time. Parking was tight but we were able to secure a handicapped parking spot. They share parking space with a few other stores with Whole Foods anchoring this plaza. No wonder there is a parking scarcity. The entrance was interesting as there were stairs that descended to the double door; there is an outdoor dining area to the left. There was a mini elevator to the right of the steps for people in wheel chairs, walkers, etc. what a nice & thoughtful feature for convenient accessibility. We were greeted so warmly by the hostess as we entered & we were seated right away in a comfy, spacious booth. I was impressed with the architectural details like the high ceilings and the interesting wall decor like the huge clock & various photos. It had vibes of yesteryear that evoked nostalgia & comfort. Bryant was our shy & efficient server, who took great care of us. Hubby ordered the BLT with potato salad and I had the Teriyaki Chicken Bowl. What was I thinking? This is not an Asian eatery! I should have ordered a sandwich since they seem to be known for that & they had such a huge variety! Their menu was extensive. My rice bowl was huge and tasty & hubby enjoyed his sandwich especially the potato salad that had the mustard taste that he loves. They also had a bakery, deli, & food items available to go. How I wish we had time to try their baked goods but we had to go. Definitely next time! This place definitely warrants another visit or two or three... ”
“ Nice place, nice crowd. It's an institution that has kept the quality up. Normally it's crowded and parking can be a challenge. The sandwiches stand out (you can split them) but everything is good. ”
“ Food is good, but DON'T get the chicken pot pie. Excellent baby back ribs, and fried chicken. Lemon bars are to die for, a sucker that'll make you pucker! Matzo ball soup could be a little more flavorful. The customer service is a bit spotty. Customer service needs improvement. The clean atmosphere is almost a NYC Jewish deli. But the question is, would I go back again!?!?? Absolutely!!! I've been twice, and if I'm in the area again, I'll stop by again! Oh, and when you get the check, examine it carefully! Enough said about this joint! ”
“ I needed some amazing comfort food near my mom in Carlsbad, so Milton's came to mind. I knew I wanted brisket and matzo ball soup, so this was the spot! Upon walking in, you see the impressive deli counter full of incredible corned beef, pastrami and brisket, black and white cookies and much more. The vibe was laid back and comfy and I can see regulars that would love visiting daily. I ordered online; it was amazing and perfect! The order was gallons of matzo ball soup, full brisket sandwiches, brisket dinners, BBQ chicken salads, the shaved brussel salad with tuna salad, sweet potato fries, cole slaw, etc. Service was perfect and the cashier helped me bring everything to my car. Great spot!!! ”
“ Yesterday, with cold weather here in the Del Mar/Carmel Valley area, it has been cold and we wanted soup and for great chicken soup, you go to Milton's/. This time we had Rafael waiting on us and he was absolutely spectacular! Even though we have been coming to Milton's for years, maybe decades, Rafael gave us insights into ordering that no one has eve shared with us!! Yes, we spent more $$$ but we had options presented we've never considered and it really made our meal choices wonderful!! And Rafael has the most wonderful, FUN, demeanor and we look forward to returning to have Rafael wait on us again!! ”
“ I was craving Jewish deli food so we ventured out here from from North County inland Pricing was not bad for a good size sandwich. I was hoping the pastrami was more peppery and crispy on the ends like I am use to but it was tasty and plenty of meat. We had the fudge brownie which was so rich and decadent, enough to share Service was great also considering how busy they were, nice and clean and cool high ceilings letting light spill in. ”

“ Haiku: Milton's Famous for their bread Breakfast, salads, sandwiches Generous portions. --- This is your traditional deli joint that specializes in piled-high pastrami, corned beef sandwiches, matzo ball soups, hearty dinners, and breakfast all day. This space is as classic as it gets. They have an extensive deli section with freshly baked goods and meats and cheeses by the pound. I feasted on my Hot Pastrami Sandwich. Each bite was rich, savory, salty, and smoky. I asked for lettuce, tomato & onions (upon request). I also ordered a side of sauerkraut to add some acidity and balance. I also enjoyed my hearty Mish Mosh Soup, chock-filled with chicken soup, chicken, noodles, a matzo ball, and veggies. It was a bit on the salty side though. Bonus: I also wanted to low-key order from their comprehensive kid's menu. Options like Chicken Pot Pie, Brisket Dinner, and meatloaf sounded so appetizing. I wanted my kid to order the Chicken Pot Pie, but she preferred the Chicken Fingers. ”
